Deserving People

Chantiers de Jeunesse  Morocco is, as its name suggests, a Moroccan NGO based in Benslimane Morocco, offering  volunteer opportunities.

Association des Cantiers de Jeunesse  Morocco was founded in 1996 by young Moroccan leaders.

We organize different social activities. In particular, we international foreign language work camps that give the opportunity to children and young people to learn modern languages. We also organize environmental work camps as well as workshops of gardening and painting in public spaces in Morocco and work with handicamps .

Our mission is to contribute to the fight against exclusion, illiteracy, openness to the others, and the embodiment of the tolerance spirit. Our goal is achieve a fruitful cultural exchange that enshrines friendship and peace between foreign teacher and Moroccan pupils and students. We also promote population mobility and the growth of the international spirit through innovation and creativity.

ACJ’s most important activity is organizing international short term voluntary projects (work camps) in Morocco and sending volunteers to projects abroad. In addition ,

ACJ coordinates long term voluntary projects of 1 to 12 months.

ACJ also organizes and participates in seminars and trainings and offers Volunteering opportunities for asylum seekers and immigrants living in Morocco.

There are various ways how to participate. ACJ work camp is a big opportunity to be part of new family . Volunteer work camps are made for people who have plenty of enthusiasm and initiative to work in a rural community area of Morocco , where volunteers from different countries can meet, live, work, learn and exchange their ideas with local people focusing on current environmental conservation issues (e.g. global warming, cultural heritage, social work, awareness program, rural and community development).

Why should you volunteer with ACj ?

One of the greatest benefits of volunteering with ACJ is being able to spend an extended period of time in Casablanca – Morocco with a professional team.

It’s a truly unique learning experience that will see you interacting with new cultures, trying out loads of awesome food, speaking new languages and meeting new people.

As a volunteer you will get a glimpse of the local culture, allowing you to become a part of ACJ family, rather than a simple tourist who does not know anything about the reality of our city.

About Benslimane :

Benslimane is a city in the Casablanca-Settat region of Morocco, the capital of Benslimane province. Previously, it was part of the Chaouia-Ourdigha region.

Etymology
Benslimane is named after The Saint Sidi Mohammed Benslimane, whose shrine is 1 km southwest of the city.

History
The city of Benslimane is located in the historic territory of the Ziaïdas, an Arabic-speaking tribe of mainly Berber Sanhaja origin, part of the Chaouia confederation. It was a historic souk at the Ziaida tribal gathering.
The first urban fabric of the modern city dates back to 1907, when the French army founded a military camp there called Camp Boulhaut during the Moroccan Campaign. The establishment of the military will be followed by the construction of a residential area for the military, constituting the core of the city; it then develops along the path leading to Bouznika.
An important urban dynamic was driven from 1977, when the province of Benslimane was created and the city became its capital.
